Welcome to Sandpiper Designs, a small-batch ceramic studio on the coast of Virginia, where every single piece is shaped, glazed, and finished by hand from start to finish. Nothing here is mass-produced or poured into molds - each mug, dish, and trinket bowl begins as a lump of raw clay and is slowly transformed into functional art you can actually use.

Because everything is handmade, no two pieces will ever be exactly alike. Once a piece finds its home, there will never be another just like it - same spirit, maybe, but never a twin. If something catches your eye, that exact piece is truly one-of-a-kind.

Why Every Piece Is Unique

No copies, only originals

You might notice that a piece you love in a photo looks slightly different in person—maybe the color pools in a new way or the shape has a little wobble. That’s not a flaw; it’s the proof that it was made by hand, one at a time, not stamped out on a factory line.

Every piece is 100% handmade from raw clay, not mass-produced.

No molds are used, so shapes, sizes, and details always vary a bit.​

Glazes react differently in each firing, creating subtle shifts in color and pattern.​

Once a piece sells, that exact combination of shape, glaze, and character will never exist again.

Think of each item as a tiny original artwork you can use in your everyday life - drink from it, serve snacks on it, or simply let it live on a shelf and make you smile.
